Five Loaves Farm, part
of the local CSA movement, is prepared to kick off its summer cycle.
The farm will provide the first installment of fresh product at 6 p.m., June 5 at the barbecue held at House of Grace Community Church, 175 Potomac Ave.
CSA is a
process that promotes families to purchase shares of fresh produce for a one-time, flat
fee. The produce can be picked up or delivered weekly throughout the summer into late October.
Farm Manager Matt Kauffman said the goal of CSA is for consumers
to save 10 to 15 percent over retail and that actual stockholders’ savings have
beaten those projections since taking over in 2012. By Matt Schaefer
