Catholic Academy takes honors in Art Alive


The Gowanda High School AP studio art class  recreates Augustus Saint Gaudens'   “Eight Caryatid Figures” (1906-1907) at Albright-Knox Art Gallery during the annual Art Alive contest June 6. Students, families and friends enter in a friendly contest to recreate different works of art from the Albright-Knox collection. The Gowanda High School group won the Handyman Award for Best Craftsmanship. The Catholic Academy of West Buffalo rec received an honorable mention with its portrayal of Alexander Calder’s Maripose, 1960. The full list of winners from Saturday’s event is available here.
