Elmwood lot to house multiuse building


The Benchmark Group’s yearlong construction project on the parking lot at 766 Elmwood Ave., between Globe Market and 7-Eleven, is set to be complete by summer of 2015. The project, which began over the summer, consists of a three-story building with a first floor retail space and two floors of apartments. Rent for the apartment spaces will range from $1,400 to $1,500. Businesses to fill the retail space have yet to be announced. There will be 24 private parking spaces underneath the building for tenants of the apartments. Karl Frizlen, project architect, said it is currently 25 percent complete.
